宇宙の魅力を発信する「宇宙情報館」が４月１２日、鹿児島市の天文館にオープンした。民間の常設施設では全国初となるロケット打ち上げの音響を体感できるコーナーや、人工衛星の模型展示など、大勢の宇宙ファンでにぎわうことが期待される。
宇宙情報館は、宇宙航空研究開発機構や国立天文台など４機関が連携、鹿児島に関係する宇宙情報をパネルや映像で紹介している。

Space museum launched to reinstate Tenmonkan as centre of astronomy
An information centre that introduces the appeal of space, "Uchuu Joho-kan," was launched in downtown Kagoshima City, Tenmonkan, on April 12. The museum features a section where visitors can feel the sound of a rocket-launch--the first of its kind among the nation's private-owned permanent facilities-- as well as the exhibition of a model of a satellite, which attracted a lot of fans of aerospace on the same day.
The space museum, which is operated in collaboration with four institutes, including the Japan Aerospace Exploratory Agency and the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, offers information about space as it relates to Kagoshima.
