鹿児島県内各地で活躍するご当地キャラクターが競った初の「天文館ご当地キャラ人気投票」で、鹿児島市喜入地区の「喜ば士隊キイレンダー」が１位となった。キイレンダープロジェクト実行委員会は「多くの協力あってこそ。目指すは全国制覇」と意気込む。
人気投票は３月２３日、天文館にぎわい通商店街振興組合とまちづくり鹿児島が共催。市町村や各種団体のＰＲキャラクター２８組がエントリーし、通行人らが投票した。

Kiirendaa wins local character award
"Yorokobashi-tai Kiirendaa" from Kiire district in Kagoshima City took the crown at the first "Tenmonkan Gotochi-kyara Popularity Contest," in which local characters from every part of the prefecture competed. The executive committee of the Kiirendaa Project said the glory didn't come without a great deal of cooperation and said they would aim to capture the national title.
The popularity poll was held on March 23 by two local organisations--the Tenmonkan Nigiwai Dori Shopping District Promotion Association, and the Machizukuri Kagoshima. A total of 28 PR characters from different cities, towns, or villages, as well as from various organisations, entered the race and were voted for by the passers-by.
