九州新幹線は３月１２日、全線開業から丸２年を迎えた。１６日には２周年記念イベントをＪＲ鹿児島中央駅前アミュ広場で開催された。
鹿児島県内は開業１年目、関西からの観光客を中心ににぎわいを見せたが、２年目に入り宿泊客数が前年割れするなど、開業時の勢いが落ちつつある。ＪＲ九州は、３月から温泉を活用したキャンペーンを実施、鹿児島への誘客にてこ入れを図る。

Kyushu Shinkansen passes 2-year mark in lower gear
Kyushu Shinkansen marked the second anniversary since the entire route was opened on March 12. There was an anniversary event at the AMU Square in front of the JR Kagoshima Chuo Station on the 16th.
In its first year since the opening, Kagoshima Prefecture enjoyed a growing number of visitors—many of whom were tourists from the Kansai area. In the second year, however, it shifted into lower gear with the number of guests at accommodation facilities falling below that of the previous year. As part of an effort to prop up the tourism in Kagoshima, JR Kyushu has begun a promotional campaign that features the local hot springs.
