鹿児島県内で、中国の大気汚染が原因とみられる微小粒子物質「ＰＭ２．５」が、基準値を超えて観測されている。県などによると、基準を上回ったのは、１月中旬からこれまで２回。いずれも一過性とみられるが、医師はアレルギー患者を中心に注意を呼び掛けている。
国は「健康を保護するうえで、維持することが望ましい」として、「ＰＭ２．５」の日平均値の基準を１立方メートル当たり３５マイクログラム以下に設定している。

Kagoshima on high alert for PM2.5
Particulate matter, "PM2.5," which is thought to be caused by air pollution in China, has been detected in Kagoshima Prefecture at a level exceeding the standard. According to the prefecture and other sources, they have detected excessive levels of the microparticles twice since mid-January. Though it is expected to be temporary, physicians are calling on people--especially those with allergies-- to be cautious.
The government has set the daily PM2.5 standard at 35 microgrammes per cubic metre, or less, as the target level for the protection of health.
