大学入試センター試験が１月１９日と２０日の両日、全国７０７会場で行われた。鹿児島県内では、鹿児島大学（鹿児島市）、鹿屋体育大学（鹿屋市）、大島高校（奄美市）など１４会場で約７５００人が受験した。
鹿児島大学では、緊張した面持ちの受験生が、試験開始直前まで参考書や教材に目を通す姿があちこちで見られた。

The National Centre Test for University Admissions took place at 707 venues nationwide on January 19 and 20. In Kagoshima Prefecture, some 7,500 students sat for the unified test at 14 places including Kagoshima University in Kagoshima City, National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Kanoya in Kanoya City, and Oshima High School in Amami City.
At Kagoshima University, many strained-looking examinees were seen reviewing reference books or textbooks as part of their last-ditch effort for the exams.
