鹿児島市暴力追放市民大会（鹿児島三地区防犯連絡協議会主催）が１１月１８日、同市の甲突川左岸緑地公園であった。大会に先立ち開かれた市内５地区の総決起大会参加者ら約１０００人が集まり、総ぐるみで暴力団排除を誓った。
鹿児島中央署の田中信夫署長は、暴力団の資金源について「覚せい剤や恐喝から、窃盗や振り込め詐欺などへ多様化している」と指摘。「徹底的に摘発する」と述べた。

Kagoshima City citizens' rally against gangsters (organised by the Crime Prevention Liaison Council of Kagoshima's three districts) was held in the city's park on the left bank of Kotsuki River on November 18. Around 1,000 participants of the general meetings that were held earlier in the city's five districts massed for the rally where they vowed to break ties with gangs.
The chief of Kagoshima Chuo Police Headquarters, Mr. Tanaka Nobuo, said the capital sources of the crime syndicates had diversified, moving from stimulants and blackmail into thefts and billing frauds among other forms of crime. He then vowed that they would devote every effort to expose any wrongdoing (by the gangs).
