志学館大　鹿児島市に移転へ
霧島市の志学館大学（辰村吉康学長）が２０１１年度に鹿児島市に移転することが決定した。運営する学校法人志学館学園（志賀壽子理事長）は２７日、鹿児島市の鹿児島県庁で記者会見し、「学生確保のため」などと説明した。一方で大学が去る地元の霧島市は「残念」「寂しい」と落胆の表情を隠せないでいる。学生の４割が鹿児島市からの通学であることも、決定を後押ししたとみられる。

Shigakukan Uni. to move into Kagoshima City
It has been decided that Shigakukan University (Principal: Tatsumura Yoshiyasu) will be moved into Kagoshima City in 2011. The administrator of the school, Shigakukan Gakuin (President: Shiga Toshiko) explained the measure as a way of securing students, at a press conference held at the prefectural hall in Kagoshima City on October 27. Kirishima City, on the other hand, expressed disappointment about the college’s decision. The fact that 40% of its students commute from Kagoshima City, might also have been a driving force behind the decision.

‘on … hand’ は「一方で（meanwhile, whereas, while）」。‘expressed … decision’ は「その大学（志学館大学のこと）の決定について落胆の表情を隠せなかった」。‘express disappointment’ は「失意（落胆）を表す」。

‘The … City’ は「その（志学館大学の）学生の４０％が鹿児島市から通学しているという事実」。‘commute [from/to/between] ~’ は「〔・・・から／・・・へ／・・・の間を〕通勤［通学］する」。‘driving force’ は「（～を支える）原動力、（～の陰の）推進力、（～の立役者）。」
