Jazzing up streets
A free jazz event "Kagoshima Jazz Street in Kagoshima city" (organised by the event's committee) took place on September 1 and 2 in Kagoshima City, where a total of 60 top musicians from across the country performed full on jazz at nine venues including the downtown Tenmonkan district.
The event is held at various places in an attempt to vitalise the region and promote exchanges among people through music. It was the first time the event was held in Kagoshima City.
At the main venue, Chuo Park, seven artists appeared on stage on the first day. The audience, sitting on the grass, enjoyed listening to the swinging music while swaying to the rhythms.
