Ibu-sho High sets up Japan's 1st company
Ibusuki Shogyo high school in Ibusuki City has set up the country's first joint-stock company as a high school. The commercial high school is known for its "Ibu-sho Depart (department store)" in which the students manage the whole procedure from purchase to account settlements. They held their first strategy planning meeting on April 10 where they confirmed their business plan. The school aims to develop outstanding human resources who would become entrepreneurs, or those who could make immediate contribution to companies.
"Ibusho Holdings," established on April 2, employs all of the school’s 590 students as employees, and they each also invest 1,000 yen as shareholders for which they will receive dividends when there is profit.
