Survey shows Kagoshima couples happiest
According to an "Attitude survey on housework and cooking at home and marital relationship," conducted nationwide by Kirin Brewery, 67% of the respondents in Kagoshima prefecture answered that their relationship was "Good" or "Relatively good"—the highest rating. The national average was 59.9%.
Meanwhile, the percentage of wives who were satisfied with their husbands' domestic chores was as low as 53% to rank in 36th place. Also, while the proportion of husbands who appreciated their own cooking ability was the fourth highest nationwide at 56%, only 36% of wives--ranked 37th overall-- valued their partners' dishes, showing a large gap in consensus between the two.
Still, those who answered that they "want to cook together in the future" ranked top across the country at 77%; and those who have dinner with their spouse or family came in second place, at an average of 4.81 days per week.
The survey was conducted in December last year via the Internet and included a total of 18,800 married men and women in their 30s or 40s in 47 prefectures.
