鹿児島市は３月１日、マルヤガーデンズ（同市呉服町）前のいづろ中央交差点のスクランブル化を検討していることを明らかにした。実現すれば同市唯一のスクランブル交差点になる。
スクランブル交差点は、複数車道の交差点で全方向からの車両の進入を止め、歩行者が同時にどの方向へも横断できる。県警によると、県内ではいちき串木野市の大原西交差点の一カ所だけ。鹿児島市の天文館交差点は該当しない。

Izuro crossing mulled to be “X” crossing
Kagoshima City on March 1 revealed that it was considering the introduction of a diagonal crossing to the Izuro Central Crossing in front of Maruya Gardens department store in the city’s Gofuku-cho. If realised, it will be the only “X” crossing in the city.
At diagonal crossings, vehicles from all directions must stop and thereby enable pedestrians to cross the roads from any direction at one time. According to the prefectural police, Ohara Nishi Intersection in Ichikikushikino City is the only pedestrian scramble in the prefecture. Tenmonkan Crossing in Kagoshima City does not fall under this category.
