Ichikikushikino City offers waste power plant for \10,000
Ichikikushikino City has put up for sale, starting at the opening minimum price of 10,000 yen, its waste power generation facility, “Ichiki General Waste Utilisation Power Centre” (in the city’s Kawakami), which the city had constructed at a cost of one billion yen but then effectively abandoned due to malfunction. It will seek bidders until the 20th. Though it is a bargain price for the construction cost, the winning bidder will be required to bear the dismantlement cost, which is expected to be around 100 million yen.
It is the fourth time that the facility is being put out to tender, and the city is struggling over the issue as it has to dispose of the plant at its own expense if it attracts no buyers.
