鹿児島県中小企業団体中央会は２０１２年１月１３日、食に携わる事業者向けに鹿児島市で「県産ダチョウを素材とした新メニュー開発と地域振興」をテーマに講演会と意見交換会を開く。
オーストリッチ（ダチョウ）肉は低脂肪、低カロリー、高タンパクで、脂肪の燃焼を助けるカルニチンを多く含む。
同組合の安藤勝利理事長は「運動選手、ダイエット志向者、高齢者などのニーズに応える万能型の肉。情報発信して特産品化につなげたい」と語る。

Kagoshima Prefecture Federation of Small Business Associations will host a lecture and workshop in Kagoshima City on January 13, 2013 for food business operators under the theme of “Development of New Menus and Region Using the Prefecture’s Ostrich as an Ingredient”.
Ostrich meat is low in fat and calorie yet high in protein, while it also contains an abundance of carnitine which helps burn body fats.
Chairman of the association, Mr. Ando Katsutoshi, said: “It is a versatile meat that meets the demands of athletes, people who are on a diet, and the elderly. I’d like to promote the product as the local specialty.”
