中華航空（本社・台湾）が、２０１２年３月末のダイヤ改正時をめどに、鹿児島－台北間で定期航空路線就航を目指し調整中であることが分かった。鹿児島空港発着の定期国際路線は現在、ソウル線と上海線があり、これに台湾線が加われば計３路線となる。
同社は、航空会社が路線や便数を自由に決められるオープンスカイ（航空自由化）について１０日、日台が合意したことを受け、鹿児島線定期便就航へ向けた調整に着手した。便数は現時点で未定だが、週２～３便となる可能性が高いという。

CAL to enter Kagoshima air route
It has been learned that China Airlines (CAL, HQ: Taiwan) has been in the process of launching a regular flight service between Kagoshima and Taipei at the end of March 2012 when the flight schedule will be revised. When the Taiwan route is introduced, it will be the third regular international flight service to and from Kagoshima Airport; in addition to the current Seoul and Shanghai routes.
CAL undertook the adjustment process of introducing the scheduled flight into the Kagoshima route after Tokyo and Taipei, on November 10, reached an agreement on the Open Skies Treaty—in which aviation companies decide the routes and number of services at their discretion. Though the number of flights has not yet been determined, the Taiwanese company said there would likely be two or three services per week.
