鹿児島市のＪＲ鹿児島中央駅の東口と西口で１１月６日、今年３回目となる二つのイベントがあり、駅周辺は終日にぎわった。
東口の「かごしま中央駅まつり」はアミュ広場や一番街商店街など６会場で開催。新幹線による交流拡大を象徴する青森の津軽三味線、北九州市の小倉祇園太鼓などが次々に上演された。
西口の「ゾウさんのはな通りフェスタ」は、周辺住民らが歩行者天国に繰り出した。地元飲食店の自慢料理を味わい、ステージで披露されるダンスや演奏を楽しんだ。

East meets west at Central Station
Two collaborative events took place for the third time this year at around East and West exits of JR Kagoshima Chuo Station in Kagoshima City, respectively, and the venues around the station were crowded with visitors.
At around East exit, “Kagoshima Chuo Station Festival” was held at six places including AMU square and Ichibangai shopping district, where there were performances of local entertainment from other prefectures such as of the Tsugaru-jamisen three-string instrument of Aomori Prefecture, and the Kokura Gion Daiko drums of Kitakyushu City, to symbolise the expansion of exchanges due to the opening of the Shinkansen express train lines.
In “Zo-san no hana Dori Festa” at around West exit, roads had turned vehicle-free, and the residents enjoyed stage performances of dancing and music while smacking their lips over the specialties of the local restaurants.
