鹿児島国際大学（鹿児島市坂之上）は８月３０日、２０１３年度から短期大学部情報文化学科の学生募集を停止すると発表した。１０年までに同学部の音楽科や児童教育学科は四年制に移行しており、短期大学部は在学生が全員卒業した段階で廃止となる。
同大短期大学部唯一の情報文化学科は５月１日現在、８０人が在籍。本年度の入学者数は定員５０人に対し４１人で、０３年度からは定員割れが続いていた。

Kokusai Uni. to scrap junior college
The Internatioal University of Kagoshima in Sakanoue, Kagoshima City announced on August 30 that it will suspend the acceptance of applications for its Junior College Department Information Culture Course from the academic year 2013. With Music and Child Studies courses in the department already having been incorporated into the four-year course by 2010, the junior college department will be abolished when all the current students graduate.
There are 80 students enrolled in the Information Culture Course, which is now the only deparment in the junior college, as of May 1. The department has been under-enrolled since 2003, with this year having 41 new students for the 50 seats available.
