火山めぐりヨットレース
２００８鹿児島カップ第２０回火山めぐりヨットレース（同実行委員会主催）が、錦江湾を主な舞台に１９日から２３日に開催された。北海道、大阪などの県外艇を含む５９艇が参戦し、錦江湾内を周回する２つのレースと、桜島や硫黄島などをめぐる湾外レースで競い合った。１９、２０日は鹿児島市のウオーターフロントパークで一般の人も参加できるシーカヤック体験や潮風コンサートなどもあった。

Sail around volcanoes
The 20th ‘Kagoshima Cup Yacht Race around Volcanoes in 2008,’ which took place mainly in Kinko Bay, was hosted by the event’s executive committee during July 19-23. A total of 59 boats, including some from other prefectures such as Hokkaido and Osaka, took part in the event comprising of two races in the inner bay and a race in the open sea that tours around two volcanoes; Mt. Sakurajima and Iou Island. There were also some associated events for the citizens at the Waterfront Park in Kagoshima City, including a sea kayaking lesson and an open air concert on the 19th and 20th.

‘The 2008’ は「２００８鹿児島カップ第２０回火山めぐりヨットレース」。‘which … Bay’ は「錦江湾を主な舞台に開催された」。‘take place’ は「開催される（(be) held）」。‘was … committee’ は「大会実行委員会が主催して」。‘hosted by …’ は「・・・が主催する」。‘executive committee’ は「実行委員会」。

‘A … event’ は「北海道、大阪などの県外艇を含む５９艇がレースに参戦した」。‘a total of …’ は「計・・・の」。‘including …’ は「・・・を含む」。‘take part in …’ は「・・・に参加する（participate in, join (in)）」。‘comprising … Island’ は「（ヨットレースは）湾内の２つのレースと、湾外で桜島と硫黄島という二つの火山を巡るレースから成る」。‘comprise of …’ は「・・・から成り立つ（consist of, be composed of, be comprised of, be made up of）」。‘inner bay’ は「湾内」。‘the open sea’ は「外洋、外海」。



“There were also some associated events for the citizens at the Waterfront Park in Kagoshima City, including a sea kayaking lesson and an open air concert on the 19th and 20th.”

‘There … City’ は「鹿児島市のウォーターフロントパークでは市民のための関連イベントもあった」。‘associated event’ は「関連イベント」。‘citizen’ は「市民」。‘including … concert’ は「シーカヤックのレッスンや野外コンサートを含む」。‘sea kayaking’ は「シーカヤック」。‘open air’ は「野外の」。



タイトルの “Sail around volcanoes”　は「火山の周りを航海する」。
