中国から鹿児島市の平川動物公園に運ばれてきたホワイトタイガーが５月２６日、一般公開された。つがいのうち雄１頭が見学者の前に姿を現した。
慣れない展示場に出てきた雄は、周囲を警戒する様子でしばらく歩き回ったが、やがて座り込むと、愛嬌のあるしぐさなどを見せた。
今後しばらくは雌と交互に展示し、環境に慣れた後、２頭同時に公開する予定。

White tigers make way to enclosure
Hirakawa Zoological Park in Kagoshima City showcased a pair of white tigers, which had been brought over from China, on May 26. Of the two, only the male appeared before the audience.
Seeming unfamiliar with the exhibition space, he cautiously walked around the room for a while and then sat on the floor, while at times showing some charming gestures.
The zoo will display the tigers in rotation for the time being and then put them together after they have adapted to the new atmosphere.
