雨水タンク助成に需要の嵐

鹿児島市が総合治水対策の一環として実施している、雨水貯留・浸透施設への助成が、ここ数年で急増している。５年ほど前までは年間１００個前後にとどまっていたが、２０１０年度は９００個を超えた。
市河川港湾課によると、制度は団地など高台から流れ出る雨水を各住宅で一時的に貯留してもらい、一気に川へ流れ出すのを防ぐ狙いで９７年度からスタートした。貯留施設は雨水をタンクにためておけば、散水や洗車などに使え、水道水の節約にもつながる。

Rainwater tank receiving hail of demand
The number of applications for the subsidy of a rainwater storage and infiltration facility, which is provided by Kagoshima City as part of its flood control measures, has increased rapidly over the last few years. The number of tanks exceeded 900 in 2010 compared to around 100 in a year five years ago or so.
According to the city’s River Port and Harbour Department, the system was started in 1997 with the aim of preventing rainwater from high ground and buildings, such as apartment complexes, from flooding into the rivers by temporarily storing the runoff at each house. The rainwater collected in the tank can also be used for sprinkling or washing cars, thereby saving tap water.
