第２５回指宿トライアスロン大会スポーツフェスタが５月１４日と１５日、指宿市であった。県内外から３２５人が参加するトライアスロンとサイクルレースのほか、池田湖カヤック体験や軽スポーツ体験、知林ケ島への砂州ウオークラリー（４．６キロ）などがあった。
同大会は資金難などで２００８年は中止したが、再開した０９年から多くの市民も参加できるスポーツフェスタ形式に変わった。

The 25th Ibusuki Triathlon Sports Festival took place in Ibusuki City on May 14 and 15. In conjunction with the triathlon and a cycle road race in which 325 people participated from inside and outside the prefecture, there were kayaking on Lake Ikeda, sports activities, and a 4.6-kilometer-long walking event on a sand bar to Chiringashima island.
The event was suspended in 2008 due to financial difficulties; however, was resumed in 2009 as a comprehensive sports festival that is open to ordinary citizens.
