Yanedan Art Festival held as revival symbol
The annual “Yanedan Art Festival” took place in Yanedan Village--commonly called “Yanedan”-- in Kamiobaru, Kushira Town, Kanoya City from May 1 to 8.
With the aim of revitalising the village, the event has been held annually by the executive committee comprised of the district’s neighbourhood association and artists who had moved into the settlement. This time, in its fourth year, a variety of works such as colourful glass craftworks and paintings on Japanese traditional sliding partitions by around 20 artists from both inside and outside the prefecture were on display for sale. There were also lessons of origami paper folding and pottery.
This time, part of the profit will be donated toward the reconstruction assistance of the Great East Japan Earthquake.
