雪像で「砂の祭典」をPR 旭川冬まつり

南さつま市の「吹上浜砂の祭典実行委員会」などは北海道旭川市の旭川冬まつり（２月８～１３日）で、５月の同祭典をＰＲする高さ約４メートルの雪像を制作した。
同市の関係者が旭川冬まつりに参加するのは１５回目。同祭典のテーマ「旅の物語～このたびで君と出会い、そして僕らは新たな旅に出る」を念頭に、九州新幹線さくらと世界中を冒険旅行するアニメ「ワンピース」に登場するチョッパーを組み合わせ、「さくらと旅の物語」と名付けた。

Fukiage Sand Festival travels northbound for promotion
As part of the promotion campaign, members of Minamisatsuma City’s planning committee of the Fukiagehama Sand Festival, which is to be held in May, produced a four-metre-tall snow statue at the Asahikawa Winter Festival (February 8-13) in Asahikawa City in Hokkaido.
It was the 15th time for the city officials to participate in the snow festival in the northland. Under the theme of the sand festival, “A story of a journey~ we meet you in this journey, and we will set out on a new journey,” they featured the Kyushu Shinkansen bullet train, “Sakura,” together with a character, “Chopper,” from the popular animation series, “One Piece” in which they make an adventure trip around the world, and named their work “A story of Sakura and Journey.”
