新燃岳噴火 警戒レベル「入山規制」へ

霧島山の新燃岳（１４２１メートル）は１月２６日午前７時３１分ごろから連続的に小規模な噴火を繰り返し、午後６時５０分には灰白色の噴煙が高さ２０００メートルに達した。
噴火は依然続いており、噴煙量、噴火規模とも統計の残る１９８８年以降で最大級。鹿児島地方気象台は噴火警戒レベルを２（火口周辺規制）から３（入山規制）に引き上げた。
同気象台は「大規模噴火に直結する兆候はみられない」としながらも「今回と同規模の噴火の恐れはあり、噴石や降灰に注意が必要」としている。

Mt.Shinmoe causes eruptions
Shinmoedake volcano (1,421 m) in the Kirishima Mountains began causing a number of minor eruptions from around 7:31 am of January 26, and an ash-grey smoke column reached 2,000 metres above the ground as of 6:50 pm.
Eruptions are still continuing, and it is the largest volcanic activity both in terms of the amount of smoke and the scale since 1988 when statistics began being officially recorded. Kagoshima Local Meteorological Observatory raised the alert level from phase 2 (entry regulation to around the crater) to phase 3 (entry regulation to the mountain).
Although the observatory has “not found any signs that would be directly linked to large-scale eruptions”, it is advising people caution for ash deposits or ash fall as there is a possibility that the same scale of eruptions will happen.
