Tenmonkan readies for sakura bloom
Commemorating the opening of the entire Kyushu Shinkansen line in March, associations of eleven shopping streets in Izuro and Tenmonkan districts made flags in uniform design with the aim of promoting the downtown area. The flags have been sequentially displayed in the arcades on the north side and toward the tram street creating a welcoming mood.
The idea had been proposed by young members of The Federation of Tenmonkan Chuo Shopping District Promotion Association, who, under the theme of “Declaration of the opening of Kagoshima”, designed the flag by comparing the Shinkansen “Sakura,” connecting Kansai area and Kagoshima, with sakura cherry blossoms.
Each shopping district will prepare their own flags, and a total of 320 pieces will be put up by February.
