無名戦士を追悼
太平洋戦争に出征した軍人、軍属で身元が分からなくなっている無名戦士の追悼式が８月２日、鹿児島市照国町の探勝園であった。遺族ら１８人が参列、遺骨や分骨が眠る「戦士之墓」に白菊をささげた。
墓が建立された１９５２年から県が毎年行い、５９回目。式典の中で県遺族会の植松照草副会長（７５）は「戦争は行く者、残る者、帰る者、いずれも生き地獄の苦しみ。霊をなぐさめ、恒久平和の願いを発信することに意義がある」と追悼の言葉を述べた。（http://373news.com/modules/pickup/article.php?storyid=25602 2010 08/03）

Nameless warriors remembered
A memorial service for military personnel and unknown soldiers who took part in the Pacific War took place at Tanshoen Park in Terukuni, Kagoshima City on August 2. Eighteen people, including the family members of the victims, attended the service and offered white chrysanthemums to the “Tomb of Soldiers” where either the whole or partial remains of the war dead sleep.
The ceremony has been conducted annually by the prefecture since 1952 when the grave was founded; and this year marked the 59th anniversary. During the ceremony, Mr. Uematsu Terukusa (75), vice chairman of the prefecture’s society of the bereaved families, said in his eulogy: “War causes a living hell for everyone whether they go to, stay in, or return from (the battle fields). It is significant to keep sending out the hope for a lasting peace.”
