Japan’s first honeymoon revived in drama
A location shoot in Kagoshima for the NHK history drama “Ryoma-Den” (The Legend of Ryoma) was held in Kirishima and Kagoshima cities on July 27 and 28. Mr. Fukuyama Masaharu, in the role of Sakamoto Ryoma, and Ms. Maki Yoko, who plays Ryoma’s wife Oryo, took part in the shoot that included a scene of Ryoma and Oryo's honeymoon to Kirishima.
At a press conference held at Senganen Japanese Garden in Kagoshima City on July 28, Fukuyama said he was glad to have been able to shoot the scene of Japan’s first honeymoon in his long-cherished Kagoshima location, and he described the scene as the “horseback” for the year-long drama, while implying that the mountain scenery was the drama's backbone.
Maki, who climbed Mt. Takachiho for the second time, said (Kirishima) was very nice and it was her pleasure to have climbed the mountain as Oryo.
The scene featuring the Kagoshima location is scheduled to be aired on September 19.
