サッカー遠藤選手を表彰へ 鹿児島市
森博幸市長は６月３０日の定例会見で、サッカーワールドカップ（Ｗ杯）南アフリカ大会で活躍した同市桜島出身の遠藤保仁選手（３０）を表彰する方向で検討していることを明らかにした。
同市は２００８年に「スポーツ栄誉賞」を制定、第１号として同市出身で北京五輪競泳銅メダルの宮下純一さん（２６）に贈った。対象を「五輪またはパラリンピックでメダル獲得」と定めているため、遠藤選手が対象となるよう見直すか新制度を検討する。
森市長は「市民に大きな感動と勇気を与えた。何らかの形で表彰することを考えたい」と述べた。

Kagoshima City seeing toward honouring Endo
Kagoshima City Mayor Mori Hiroyuki unveiled in a June 30 regular interview that the city was considering honouring a football player, Endo Yasuhito (30) from the city’s Sakurajima, for his brilliant performance at The World Cup in South Africa.
The city established the “Sports Honour Award” in 2008, and it presented the first prize to Mr. Miyashita Junichi (26), the bronze medallist in swimming at the Beijing Olympics. However, since the city stipulates that ‘(the recipient of the honour is required) to win a medal at either the Olympics or Paralympics,” it will consider either revising the living provision or establishing a new system so Endo will be the candidate.
Mori said he would like to honour Endo in some form that corresponds to the great thrill and encouragement he has given to the citizens.
