川内原発増設へ地元が合意
薩摩川内市の岩切秀雄市長は６月７日、同市議会全員協議会で、九州電力の川内原子力発電所３号機増設への同意を表明した。地元首長の同意が得られたことで九電は重要電源開発地点指定を近く国へ申請する方針。
国が増設を事実上認めることを意味する指定の前には知事への意見照会があり、「環境調査と増設は別」との立場を取っていた伊藤祐一郎知事の是非判断が、今後の大きな焦点になる。（Source:373news.com 2010.6.8）

Satsuma Sendai City OKs building another nuke power plant
Satsuma Sendai City Mayor Iwakiri Hideo declared his consent to the construction of the third nuclear power plant by Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc., (Kyuden)’s Sendai Nuclear Power Station, on June 7. With consent from the local chief obtained, Kyuden is now planning to request that the national government designate the area as an important electric power development site.
Since reference to the prefectural governor’s opinion is the prerequisite for the government’s designation--meaning the governor's de facto approval of the construction of an additional atomic power plant--Kagoshima Governor Ito Yuichio’s judgement will be the focus of attention to come. Ito has made it clear that “an assessment of the environment and the construction of an additional plant are two different matters.”

“OK” は副詞の「よろしく、はい（all right）」や形容詞の「よろしい；まずまずの」などの意味で多用されますが、「オーケーする、承認する」という動詞で新聞などではよく見かけます。“nuke” は “nuclear” の省略形。
