県が新・総合体育館構想を提示
　鹿児島県は５月１８日、２０２０年開催が見込まれる鹿児島国体を見据えた新しい総合体育施設の構想案を示した。
　新施設は全国、国際レベルのスポーツ競技大会に対応。メーン（１万７０００～１万９０００平方メートル）はバスケットボール４面と観客席５０００～７０００席程度、サブ（５０００～６０００平方メートル）はバスケットボール２面と観客席２００～３００席程度、武道場（８０００～９０００平方メートル）は柔剣道場６面程度に弓道場などを、それぞれ整備することを想定している。
　整備予定地は県庁東側隣接地（鹿児島市与次郎２丁目）周辺で、県は近くにスポーツ・宿泊施設が集積していることなどから「適当」と判断した。

Prefecture unveils new sports gym plot
　Kagoshima Prefecture on May 18 presented a picture of a new comprehensive sports facility to be built toward the National Athletic Meet in Kagoshima, which is expected to be held in 2020.
　The envisioned facility is designed for official sports events of both national and international levels, with the main arena (17,000~19,000 sq. m) accommodating four basketball courts and 5,000~7,000 spectators’ seats, the sub arena (5,000~6,000 sq. m) housing two basketball courts and 200~300 seats, and the Martial Arts Hall (8,000~9,000 sq. m) having around six courts for Judo and Kendo (swordplay) along with a Kyudo (archery) facility, respectively.
　The planned site is located around the adjacent area to the east of the Prefectural Hall (2-chome, Yojiro, Kagoshima City) near where a cluster of sports and accommodation facilities exist, leading the authority to judge the location as “appropriate” (for the new sports facility.)

民主党による「事業仕分け」では、一般常識では考えられないような名目だけの事業に多額の資金が流れている実態が曝け出されています。鹿児島県内でも、「環境」や「観光」など、その時流にあったテーマを掲げた無駄なハコモノが多く見られますが、計画中の体育館のように目的がはっきりしたものについては、予算をケチって中途半端なものを造ることは将来に財産を残さないことになります。造るからには、全国に誇れるような施設を期待します。
