ハクセキレイ
メンガタハクセキレイ　鹿児島県本土に初飛来
　南さつま市笠沙で５月２日、ハクセキレイの亜種メンガタハクセキレイ１羽が飛来しているのを鹿児島大学野鳥研究会ＯＢの高木慎介さん（２４）が見つけた。
　２００２年３月、沖縄県石垣島で日本で初めて観察されて以来、同県や熊本県天草などで極めてまれに観察される珍鳥で、離島を除く県本土では初記録という。
　ハクセキレイは、本来バイカル湖以西の旧ソ連から中東方面で繁殖し、インドやパキスタン方面に渡る鳥で、日本は渡りのコースからは外れている。

　Mr. Takagi Shinsuke (24), an alumnus of Kagoshima University’s Wild Bird Society, discovered a Mengata-hakusekirei, a subspecies of the white wagtail, flying in Kasasa, Minami-Satsuma City as of May 2.
　The migratory bird has been only rarely witnessed in Okinawa, and in Amakusa in Kumamoto Prefecture, since it was observed on Ishigakijima Island in Okinawa Prefecture in March 2002 for the first time in the country. In addition, the observation in Kasasa was the first time in the prefecture that the bird was found outside of remote islands.
　White wagtails usually breed in an area to the east of Lake Baikal which stretches between the former Soviet Union and the Middle East, and from there they migrate toward India and Pakistan. Japan is not included in the original course of their journey.
