「地域猫」の手術費補助スタート／鹿児島市
　鹿児島市は、住民の理解を得て野良猫に不妊去勢手術を施し地域で面倒をみる「地域猫」の普及に向け、今月から手術費の一部補助制度を始めた。
　補助対象は、野良猫がすむ地区の居住者を含む３人以上のグループで、事前に給餌場やトイレの設置、管理する猫の頭数把握が条件となる。
　雌１匹あたり１万円、雄は同５０００円で、市は年間で雄雌各１００匹分、計１５０万円の補助を見込む。

Kagoshima City fund to make stray cats straight
With the aim of promoting so-called “area cats” that are taken care of by the residents of the same area after they have agreed to perform spaying and neutering surgeries on the stray cats, Kagoshima City has begun a subsidy system to shoulder part of the surgical expenses.
Groups of more than three people, which include a resident of the area where street cats live, are eligible for the subsidy; and they are required to place feeding floors and litter boxes, as well as account for the number of cats.
The city will pay 10,000 yen for a female cat and 5,000 yen for a male, respectively; and it estimates a total of 1,500,000 yen of subsidy, which accounts for 100 cats annually.
