県内公立高で入学式
　鹿児島県内のほとんどの公立高校で４月７日、入学式があった。新設された明桜館高校（鹿児島市郡山町）では開校・入学式があり、１期生２００人が名称の由来となった桜が舞い散る中、校門をくぐった。
　新入生を代表し中間陽子さん（１５）が「第１期生としての感激を忘れることなく、高校生としての本分を全うすることを誓います」と宣誓した。保護者や来賓約３００人が見守り、新設校の門出を祝った。

New semester starts at public high schools
Entrance ceremonies were held at most public high schools in Kagoshima Prefecture on April 7. At newly-set up Meiokan High School in Koriyama Town, Kagoshima City, an opening/entrance ceremony was held, and the school’s first 200 students passed through the gate while cherry flowers—for which the school was named--were fluttering in the breeze.
On behalf of the new students, Ms. Nakama Yoko (15) took an oath saying that they would never forget their excitement as the first students (of the school), and that they would fulfil their duty as high school students. Around 300 people, comprised of parents and guests, attended the ceremony to celebrate the birth of the new school.
