枕崎でカツオ初競り
　枕崎市の枕崎漁港で１月４日、かお節原料となるカツオの初競りがあった。競りに先立ち、枕崎市漁協の上野新作組合長はあいさつで「水産業者の力を結集して、苦境を乗り切ろう」と檄（げき）を飛ばした。
　この日の取引価格は主要サイズ（１．８～４．４キロ）で１キロ１１７円～１０３円。前年１月の平均価格と比べ、４０～３０円の安値となった。同港には１３日までに７隻約６０００トンが水揚げ予定で、この時期としては供給量が多いことが影響した。

The first bonito sale of the year took place at Makurazaki Fishing Port in Makurazaki City on January 1. The prices fell below the average price of the same month last year by 40-30 yen. The low prices are attributed to a larger volume of supply for the season, as a total of around 6,000 tons of fish on seven boats will come into port by the 13th of the month.
