さつま町を「モミジの名所」に
さつま町が町木のモミジを植栽し、観光名所に育てるプロジェクトが本格的に動き出した。３カ所で拠点化するほか、校区に相当する町内２０区にも５本ずつ提供し、住民に町木への親近感も植え付けたい考えだ。
作業に加わった王子野区長（７２）は「毎年１１月に開く温泉まつりをモミジまつりに発展させ、シンボルに育てたい」と期待する。

Satsuma maple project
Satsuma-cho has launched a full-scale operation for a project to develop tourism spots by planting their town tree: maple. While designating three sites as the main bases of the project, it will offer five trees to its every 20 school districts in the hope of also planting a sense of affinity for the symbolic tree among residents.
One of the ward heads, Mr. Ohjino, who participated in the tree-planting operation, expressed his expectation saying: ‘I would like to make the trees symbolic (of the town) by featuring maple trees at the annual Hot Spring Festival in November in the future.’
