最南端の屋外スケート場／えびの高原
日本最南端の屋外スケート場「えびの高原アイススケート場」（宮崎県えびの市）が１１月２２日、オープンした。標高約１２００メートルにある銀盤の上で、待ち構えたファンら約３００人が初滑りを楽しんだ。午前１０時の気温は７度と、この時期にしては比較的温か。あいにくの雨の中、親子連れらは防寒着やかっぱに身を包み、約１８００平方メートルのリンクを、手をつないだり、そり遊びをしたりして滑走した。来年３月中旬まで午前９時～午後５時、毎日営業予定。期間中、約２万６０００人の来場を目標にしている。

Getting hot on ice
Japan’s southernmost outdoor skating rink “Ebino Kōgen Ice Skate Rink” in Ebino City, Miyazaki Prefecture opened on November 22. Around 300 people enjoyed their long-awaited first day of the winter sport on an ice rink situated at 1,200 meters up in the highlands. The temperature was relatively warm for the season at 7 degrees Celsius as of 10am. Despite the rain, children and parents wore winter clothes or rain capes and enjoyed sliding on the ice while holding hands, or while using sleds on the 1,800 sq. meter rink. The open-air surface will be open everyday from 9am to 5pm until mid-March next year. The authority expects around 26,000 visitors during the season.
