「エンパイヤ広場」活用へ
鹿児島市社交業組合（谷川洋造理事長）などは、空き地になっている同市千日町のエンパイヤビル跡を「エンパイヤ広場」と名付け、貸し出しを始める。天文館の活性化につなげるのが狙いで、当面は利益を目的とせず管理費程度の低料金にするという。運営協議会は、交通の利便性を生かし、朝、昼、夜と利用がつながることを期待している。１０月１６、１７日、オープニング記念イベントとして「秋のお月見ビアガーデン」を開く。

Site of Empire building offered to inspire businesses
Kagoshima City Shakōgyō Association (Chairman: Tanigawa Youzou) and other groups have decided to name the site of Empire Building in the city’s Sennichi-cho ‘Empire Square,’ and will begin renting the space. It is part of their efforts to revitalise the Tenmonkan district and they said they will not pursue profit in offering the space at such a low rate as an administration cost for the time being. The association expects the space will be utilised from morning till night and take advantage of its transportation convenience. For its opening event, they will hold ‘A Moon Viewing Beer Garden in Autumn’ on October 16 and 17.

Chairman：理事長　　　have ~ Square：同市千日町のエンパイヤビル跡を「エンパイヤ広場」と名付けることを決めた　　　begin ~ space：その広場の貸し出しを始める。Rent は有料で借りることで、名詞形では「使用料、賃貸料」。無料の場合は borrow。
