「海の金魚」が錦江湾を帆走
２００９鹿児島カップ火山めぐりヨットレース（同実行委員会主催）が７月１５－２０日の日程で開催され、錦江湾内外を舞台に３レースが行われた。「皆既日食記念」を冠した同大会には、県内をはじめ北海道や関西などから５１艇が参加。時折晴れ間がのぞく曇り空の下、帆いっぱいに潮風をはらませて、迫力ある熱戦を繰り広げた。また、今回はレース中に、火山めぐりヨットレースをテーマにした映画「海の金魚」の撮影も行われた。

“Goldfish” fill Kinko Bay
Kagoshima Cup Yacht Race Around Volcanoes 2009 (hosted by the event’s committee) took place on July 15-20 in and around Kinko Bay where the participants competed in three races. A total of 51 sailboats including those from the Hokkaido and Kansai areas took part in the event which was titled “Total Solar Eclipse Memorial” for this year. Under the overcast sky with occasional sunshine breaking through the clouds, they engaged in exciting races that filled the sails with salty ocean breezes. This time, a film shoot for a movie called “Goldfish in the Sea” that features this yacht race as its theme also took place during the races.

Under the overcast sky with occasional sunshine breaking through the clouds, they engaged in exciting races that filled the sails with salty ocean breezes.

Under … sky：どんよりした空の下　　　with … clouds：（どんよりした空の）雲の切れ間から時折晴れ間がのぞいて　　　they … races：彼ら（レース参加者のこと）は熱戦を繰り広げた。Engage inは「・・・に関与する、従事する」。　　　That … breezes：（白熱したレースで）帆いっぱいに潮風をはらませた。Fill … with ~は「～で・・・をいっぱいにする、満たす」。
