鹿児島県は７月１８日夜、鹿児島市上之園町の甲突川右岸（南洲橋周辺の約１２０メートル）で初めてのライトアップ試験を行った。多くの人が集まる「曽我どんの傘焼き」前夜祭に合わせ、護岸や河川敷に竹灯ろう、電球計１００個を設置した。県によると、水辺を憩いの場にしようと進めている甲突川リバーサイドウオーク整備事業の一環。

On the night of July 18 Kagoshima Prefecture conducted the first trial of the illumination in an area of about 120 metres around the Nanshu Bridge along the Kotsuki River’s right bank in Uenosono-cho, Kagoshima City. The illumination will be carried out on the Eve of the local traditional event “Soga-don no Kasayaki” when many people visit the place, and a total of 100 bamboo lanterns as well as electric light bulbs were installed on the wall and the bank of the river. The authorities said this illumination is part of their ongoing Kotsuki Riverside Walk Improvement Project, which aims to make the waterfront a place of recreation and relaxation.
