「海王丸」が入港／鹿児島市
独立行政法人航海訓練所（横浜市）の練習帆船で、日本近海を訓練航海中の世界最大級の帆船「海王丸」（２５５６トン）が１６日、鹿児島市の鹿児島港本港区北ふ頭２号岸壁に入港した。２０日までの寄港中は連日、日没後から午後１０時までイルミネーションが点灯される。国枝佳明船長は「今年は桜島の降灰があったと聞いていたが、天気が良くて気持ちいい」と満足げだった。

Taking a short break …
One of the world’s largest sailing vessels used for training and owned by the Yokohama-based National Institute for Sea Training, Kaio-maru (2,556 tons), took a pause from navigation training off the coast of Japan to sail into Kagoshima Port’s North Pier No.2 in Kagoshima City on April 16. The ship will be illuminated every day after sunset until 10 pm from the 16th through the 20th while calling at the port. The captain of the sailing vessel, Mr. Kunieda Yoshiaki, said he felt nice having been blessed with fine weather as he had heard there had been considerable ash fall from Mt. Sakurajima this year.

‘One … vessels’ は「世界最大級の帆船」。‘one of +（限定複数名詞）’ は「・・・のひとつ」。‘owned by …’ は「・・・が所有する」。‘Yokohama-based’ は「横浜に本拠地を置く」。‘took … training’ は「練習航海を中断した」。‘off the coast’ は「沖」。‘’

‘The … illuminated’ は「その船（海王丸のこと）はイルミネーションが点灯される」。‘while … port’ は「寄港中に」。‘call at a port’ は「寄港する」。

‘the sailing vessel’ は「その帆船（海王丸のこと）」。‘(having been) blessed … weather’ は「良い天気に恵まれた」。‘(be) blessed with …’ は「〈人が〉・・・の恩恵を受ける、・・・に恵まれる」。‘there … fall’ は「多量の降灰があった」。‘considerable’ は「〈数・量・大きさ・程度が〉かなりの、相当な（substantial, large, many）」。
