鹿児島市電の「春のビール電車」が１６日、運行を始めた。初日は親子連れなど２２人が乗車し、心地よく揺れる車内でほろ酔いの２時間を楽しんだ。霧島市溝辺の霧島高原ビールが毎年実施して１２年目。弁当付きの飲み放題で１人３６００円。午後６時半に鹿児島駅前を出発。騎射場を経て谷山で折り返し、中央駅前経由で鹿児島駅前に戻る。

Beer tram starts ahead of spring party season
Kagoshima City tram began operating its annual ‘Spring Beer Tram’ on March 16. On the first day, 22 customers including families made merry during the two-hour journey while the rhythm of the tram added to the excitement. The annual beer tram has been sponsored by Kirishima Kogen Beer in Mizobe, Kirishima City and this is the twelfth year since its introduction. The all-you-can-drink moving restaurant costs 3,600 yen per person including a lunch box. The tram departs from Kagoshima station at 6:30 p.m. for Taniyama Station via Kishaba, and then comes back to Kagoshima Station via Chuo Station.

‘tram’ は「路面電車（street car）」。‘began operating’ は「・・・の運転を始めた」。‘annual’ は「年1回の、毎年恒例の」。


“On the first day, 22 customers including families made merry during the two-hour journey while the rhythm of the tram added to the excitement.”

‘including’ は「・・・を含めて」。‘make(made) marry’ は「陽気に騒ぐ、はしゃぐ」。‘two-hour journey’ は「その2時間の旅」。‘while … excitement’ は「電車の（揺れる）リズムがさらに気分を盛り上げた」。‘add excitement’ は「話題を呼ぶ、・・・を一層盛り上げる」。


“The annual beer tram has been sponsored by Kirishima Kogen Beer in Mizobe, Kirishima City and this is the twelfth year since its introduction.”

‘(has been) sponsored by …’ は「・・・がスポンサーを務めてきた」。‘this … introduction’ は「その導入（ビール電車のこと）以来12年目である」。‘twelfth’ は ‘twelve’ の序数表記。


“The all-you-can-drink moving restaurant costs 3,600 yen per person including a lunch box.”

‘The … restaurant’ は「飲み放題の移動レストラン（ビール電車のこと）」。‘all-you-can-drink’ は「飲み放題の」。鹿児島大学の留学生たちも「Nomihoudai」は大好きです。因みに「食べ放題の」なら ‘all-you-can-eat’、「食べ放題・飲み放題の」なら ‘all-you-can-eat-and-drink’ となります。このシステムは日本の居酒屋などではかなり一般的ですが、海外ではあまりないようです。飲酒による犯罪率の抑制などの理由とともに、特に欧米諸国では飲み尽くされて店が成り立たないかもしれません！‘per person’ は「一人当たり」。

‘depart from …’ は「・・・を出発する（leave, start from）」。‘via’ は「・・・経由で、・・・を通って、・・・回りで（by way of）」。


タイトルの “Beer tram starts ahead of spring party season”　は「春の飲み会シーズンに向けてビール電車が出発」。

甲突川沿いの桜も上流はすでに満開で、下流も今週末が見頃ではないでしょうか。残念ながら今週末は天気が崩れそうですが、お花見にお出かけの際は「花冷え」で風邪を引かないようにどうぞお気をつけて。
