｢コミュニティシネマ｣発足
市民主体で運営する映画組織「鹿児島コミュニティシネマ」が１６日、鹿児島市に発足した。活動第１弾として８月１１日、同市の黎明館で「紙屋悦子の青春」を上映する。同シネマでは、上映会や講座・トークショーをそれぞれ年２回以上開催、機関紙を年３回発行する予定だ。

Community cinema coming soon
The community-based organisation, the ‘Kagoshima Community Cinema’, was set up on June 16 in Kagoshima city. The citizen group will start by the screening of a film titled ‘Kamiya Etsuko no Seishun’, or ‘Kamiyo Etsuko’s youth’, at the city’s Reimeikan Museum on August 11. The Cinema is planning to hold a showing as well as a lecture and a chat show more than twice, and the publishing of journals three times a year, respectively.

‘The community-based organisation (organization)’ は直訳すれば「地域社会に拠点を置く組織、団体」。ここでは「市民団体」の意味で使っています。 ‘set up’ は「発足した、設立された」。類は ‘established’ ‘founded’ ‘built’ など。



‘The citizen group will start by the screening of a film titled ‘Kamiya Etsuko no Seishun’, or ‘Kamiyo Etsuko’s youth’, at the city’s Reimeikan Museum on August 11.’

‘The citizen group’ は前文の ‘The community-based organisation’ の言い換えです。 ‘the screening of a film’ は「映画の上映」。‘showing’ とも言います。映画のタイトルは、日本語の題名の後に英語の意味を併記しています。このように固有名詞などの名称をそのまま示し、それが意味する内容を示す場合によく用いられるのが ‘, or ~’ という用法です。
‘Reimeikan Museum’ は、「黎明館」だけでは何の施設か分からないため、‘Museum’（博物館）をつけています。因みに「美術館」は ‘art museum’ あるいは ‘gallery’ です。

‘The Cinema’ は ‘the Kagoshima Community Cinema’ のことを指しています。‘hold a showing’ は「上映会を実施する」。‘lecture’ は「講演会、講義」。‘chat show’ は「トークショー」（英）。‘talk show’（米）と言います。‘publishing of journals’ は「機関紙の発行」。‘respectively’ は「それぞれ」。



タイトルの ‘Community cinema coming soon’ は「コミュニティーシネマがやってくる」。‘community’, ‘cinema’, ‘coming’ と ‘c’ を被せることで動きを出してみました。
