「鹿児島派遣村」設立へ
仕事や住居を失った人を支援するため、路上生活者の支援団体などが９日、「鹿児島派遣村実行委員会」（堀之内洋一会長）を設立した。住居がない人に提供する一時宿泊施設（シェルター）の２８日開所を目指す。失職者や路上生活者向けの相談会も、司法書士や社会保険労務士などの協力で行う方針。

Gimme shelter!
On March 9 support groups for vagrants in the prefecture set up an executive committee (chaired by Mr. Horinouchi Yoichi) for ‘Hakenmura’, a village for temp staff workers, to give support to those who have lost their jobs or homes. It plans to open a shelter on the 28th of this month for the newly emerged homeless. It will also offer counselling for the jobless and those suffering on the streets in collaboration with experts such as judicial scriveners and specialists in social insurance.

‘vagrant(s)’ は「路上生活者」。‘set up’ は「・・・を設立する（establish, make）」。‘executive committee’ は「実行委員会」。‘temp staff workers’ は「派遣労働者」。‘chaired by …’ は「・・・が会長を務める」。


“It plans to open a shelter on the 28th of this month for the newly emerged homeless.”

‘shelter’ は「避難所、シェルター；（一時的な救護施設）」。‘the … homeless’ は「新たに発生したホームレス」。


“It will also offer counselling for the jobless and those suffering on the streets in collaboration with experts such as judicial scriveners and specialists in social insurance.”

‘the jobless’ は「失業者」。‘those … streets’ は「路上で困っている人々（路上生活者のこと）」。‘in collaboration with …’ は「・・・と協力して（in cooperation with）」。‘judicial scrivener(s)’ は「司法書士」。‘specialist(s) … insurance’ は「社会保険労務士」。


タイトルの “Gimme shelter!”　は「逃げ場をくれ！」。
ご存知、史上最強のロックバンドとの呼び声が高いThe Rolling Stonesの有名な曲のタイトルです。この曲が発表された1970年は、ベトナム戦争（1960－1975）が泥沼化し、反戦ムードが高まっていた時期です。そのため、内容は基本的に反戦歌で、全体を通じて ‘War, children, it’s just a shot away’「戦争だ　坊やたち　もう目の前だ（射程距離だ）」という歌詞の反復があります。興味があるかたは聞いてみてください。
