海外旅行博開幕／鹿児島市
かごしま海外旅行博が７日と８日、鹿児島市天文館であった。韓国・ソウル、中国・上海、香港の３路線がある鹿児島空港を使い、気軽に海外旅行を楽しんでもらおうと初めて開いた。世界１３カ国の海外体験コーナーやスタンプラリーが設置されたほか、ステージではタイの舞踊やフラダンスも披露され、多くの観客が拍手を送った。

Let’s travel abroad!
Kagoshima Overseas Travel Festival took place on March 7 and 8 in Kagoshima City’s downtown Tenmonkan. The event was held to promote overseas trips by using Kagoshima Airport which has three direct routes between Seoul in Korea, Shanghai in China and Hong Kong. Thirteen booths were set up by different countries where they demonstrated their lifestyles and offered stamps for a stamp rally, while Thai and Hula dances were performed on a stage raising applause from the visitors.

‘Kagoshima … Festival’ は「かごしま海外旅行博」の英訳。‘take(took) place’ は「開催される、実施される（be held）」。‘downtown’ は「町の中心（繁華）街、商業地区（city centre）」。


“The event was held to promote overseas trips by using Kagoshima Airport which has three direct routes between Seoul in Korea, Shanghai in China and Hong Kong.”

‘promote’ は「・・・を促進する、増進する、奨励する（encourage, recommend）」。‘direct route(s)’ は「直行路、直行ルート」。


“Thirteen booths were set up by different countries where they demonstrated their lifestyles and offered stamps for a stamp rally, while Thai and Hula dances were performed on a stage raising applause from the visitors.”

‘booth(s)’ は「小さく仕切った部屋、ブース；展示ブース」。‘(were) set up’ は「・・・が設置される、建設される（established, built, erected）」。‘demonstrate(d)’ は「・・・を実演する；〈人が〉〈学説・真理など〉を〈推論・証拠などによって〉論証する、証明する」。‘raising … visitors’ は「（ステージ上のダンスに）観客から拍手が送られた」。‘applause’ は「拍手（clapping）、拍手喝采；（拍手による）承認（ovation）」。


タイトルの “Let’s travel abroad!”　は「海外旅行に行こう！」。
