JR Kyushu unveils seven-star dishes for new deluxe train trip
JR Kyushu on September 18 unveiled the outline of meals to be provided on a deluxe sleeping carriage, "Nanatsuboshi Kyushu," and at stop-over inns. They will serve dishes with a plenty of local colour at inns in Kirishima City, while Satsuma ware-made sake pot will be used to serve alcohol.
The cuisines at Kirishima's inns and on the train will be produced by the master chefs at 16 facilities, including prestigous restaurants from around the Kyushu area, and from that on the train. From Kagoshima Prefecture, Tenku-no-mori, Myoken Ishiharaen, and Wasure-no-Sato Gajoen—all in Kirishima City, and where the customers will stay on the four-day three-night course—will offer dinners and lunches using the local's seasonal foods. Senganen in Kagoshima City will treat the guests with "Shimadzu-ke Satsuma Gozen"--an imperial dinner served for the lord of the then Satsuma Clan-- in "Ekken-no-ma," or audience room. During the evening hours on the train, customers are served alcohol using special ware, including Kurojoka-- Satsuma porcelain-made sake pot specially made for the local shochu liquor, and that is produced by Chinjukan pottery in Hioki City.
