火山めぐりヨットレース
錦江湾を舞台に繰り広げられる「鹿児島カップ火山めぐりヨットレース」が７月１９日に開幕した。２０日のインショアレースを皮切りに、湾内外の３レースで順位を競った。１９日は夕方から鹿児島市のサンロイヤルホテルでウェルカムパーティが開かれ、昨年の優勝カップの返還やヨットオーナーを対象とした景品の抽選会などが行われた。
２４回目となった今年は、県内外から４９艇が参加。微風に苦しみながらも、猛暑の中、桜島が噴煙を上げる壮大な景色を背景に熱戦を繰り広げた。
大会の模様は、８月２４日１４：００から地元局のＫＴＳで放映される。

Catch the wind! Yacht race around volcanoes
"Kagoshima Cup Yacht Race Around Volcanoes," which takes place in Kinko Bay, opened on July 19. Participants competed in three races held inside and outside of the bay that started with "Kinko Bay Inshore Race" on the 20th. There was a welcome party on the night of the 19th at the Sun Royal Hotel in Kagoshima City where the champion's trophies were returned from last year's winners, which was followed by prize drawings for the sailboats' owners.
A total of 49 sailboats participated in this year's race, which was the 24th time this year. Though struggling with light winds, the sailors staged exciting races under the scorching summer sunlight against the backdrop of the magnificent view of fuming Sakurajima volcano.
The yacht race will air on August 24, from 2 p.m., on the local TV station KTS.
