国内外で活躍する音楽家が集う第３４回霧島国際音楽祭（鹿児島県、ジェスク音楽文化振興会、県文化振興財団主催）の開幕を告げる県民ふれあいコンサートが７月１７日、鹿児島市の県庁であった。
バイオリンの山本友重さん、チェロの上村文乃さん、ピアノの今井彩子さんがバッハやモーツァルト、メンデルスゾーンの曲を披露。美しい旋律に約３５０人が聴き入った。
音楽祭は８月４日まで。霧島市のみやまコンセールを主会場に、県内７市町で約５０のコンサートやワークショップが開かれる。

Kirishima Intl. Music Festival opens
The 34th Kirishima International Music Festival (hosted by Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan Music Foundation, and Kagoshima Prefecture Cultural Promotion Foundation) that features musicians who are active at home and abroad, began with a free concert for Kagoshima citizens at the prefectural hall in Kagoshima City on July 17.
The audience of approximately 350 people were fascinated by the beautiful melodies of Bach, Mozart, and Mendelssohn that were played by violinist Tomoshige Yamamoto, cellist Ayano Kamimura, and pianist Ayako Imai.
The music festival will run until August 4. With the main venue set at Miyama Conceru in Kirishima City, there will be around 50 concerts and workshops in the prefecture's seven cities or towns.
