Kagoshima assembly OK's rescue plan for Kagoshima-China air route
At the final session of the prefectural assembly’s regular meeting, and in keeping with its 2013 general account, Kagoshima Prefecture on June 28 reintroduced the supplementary budget of 3.5 million yen for its project to dispatch a number of people to Shanghai, which is to help promote the use of the China Eastern Airlines between Kagoshima and Shangha. All of the three standing committees-- Committee of General Purpose, Police's Education Panel, and Committee on Project Management-- passed the rescue plan on the night of the same day. The proposal was also cleared with a majority at the plenary session before dawn of the following day—which was resumed after a brief suspension to extend the session.
The prefecture had originally sought 1.18 million yen to send its 1,000 staff members; however, it was rejected at the floor meeting held on the morning of the 28th. In the revised bill, the number was downsized to a total of 300 members, and it included citizens besides the officials, with the term of the project shortened to three months between July and September.
