種子鋏が文化財に

文化審議会（西原鈴子会長）は１月２０日、西之表市に伝わる「西之表の種子鋏（ばさみ）製作技術」を記録作成等の措置を講ずべき無形の民俗文化財に選択するよう平野博文文部科学相に答申した。
近く答申どおり選択される予定で、民俗技術としては鹿児島県内初となる。県内の国選択無形民俗文化財は「加治木のくも合戦の習俗」（姶良市）、「薩摩の馬踊りの習俗」（鹿児島県）などに続いて１８件目。

Tane Scissors: cut out for cultural asset
The Cultural Affairs Council (Chairwoman: Ms. Nishihara Suzuko) on January 20 recommended that the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-- Hirano Hirofumi--select “the fabrication method of Tane Scissors in Nishinoomote” as one of the nation’s intangible folk cultural assets.
The island-produced tool is expected to be nominated as recommended, becoming the first designated folk technology, as such, in Kagoshima Prefecture. It would be the 18th national folklore cultural asset in the prefecture following “Folkway of Spiderfighting in Kajiki” (Aira City), and “Folkway of Satsuma’s Horse Dancing” (Kagoshima Prefecture).
