甑島がまるごと美術館に
島全体を美術館に見立てた現代アート展「甑島で、つくる。」が８月２１日、薩摩川内市の上、中甑島一帯で始まった。２９日までで、島の風景を楽しみながら、若手アーティストたちの作品を鑑賞できる。
現代アートで活躍する若手芸術家と地元作家ら計１８人が参加し、廃校や路地裏の空き店舗を舞台に、多様な作品が出展される。主催する「ＫＯＳＨＩＫＩ ＡＲＴ ＰＲＯＪＥＣＴ」の平嶺林太郎代表（２６）は「アートだけでなく、自然や暮らしなど甑島全体の魅力を感じてもらえれば」と話す。
アート展の入場料は島外者５００円、島民３００円、１５歳以下無料。

Koshikijima Islands turn artistic
A contemporary art exhibition that uses all of the islands as an art museum, “Koshikijima de Tsukuru (Create on Koshikijima Islands),” kicked off on the islands of Kami-Koshiki and Naka-Koshiki on August 21. During the event until August 29, visitors can see works by young artists while enjoying views of the islands.
A variety of pieces by a total of 18 young artists and local artists who are active in modern art will be on display at closed schools and vacant back-alley stores. The chairman of the event’s organiser, Mr. Hiramine Rintaro (26), said he hoped visitors would feel the charms of the entire Koshikijima Islands, such as their nature and life, along with the artworks.
Admission to the art fair is 500 yen for people from outside the island and 300 yen for the islanders. Children aged 15 and under are free of charge.
